Reports from Footballwave suggest that Manchester United is showing keen interest in signing Ivan Provedel from Lazio. The 29-year-old goalkeeper has earned a strong reputation in Serie A and has recently become a key player for Italy’s national team. This season, Provedel has stood out as the most prolific goalscoring goalkeeper globally, notably scoring a crucial goal during Lazio’s Champions League group stage, which helped them secure a draw against Atletico Madrid and advance to the last-16 stage. This achievement marked just the third time in Champions League history that a goalkeeper scored during open play.
Provedel’s scoring abilities were previously showcased during his loan spell at Juve Stabia in 2020, where he scored a late equalizer. Interestingly, he began his career as a striker and amassed an impressive tally of 27 goals for Pordenone’s youth team before transitioning to becoming a professional goalkeeper.
While Manchester United is interested in Provedel, Lazio’s asking price of €35 million seems to pose a challenge for the January transfer window. However, United is considering monitoring him for a potential transfer in the summer.
