A leaked report indicates that Moises Caicedo’s representative, Ali Barat, is set to receive the prestigious ‘Golden Agent Award’ for 2023. Barat’s accolade comes following his role in orchestrating Caicedo’s transfer to Chelsea, outmaneuvering previous interests from Arsenal and Liverpool.

During the 2023 summer windows, the 22-year-old became a highly sought-after player not only in the Premier League but also in global football. Ultimately, he secured a record-breaking move to Chelsea, with the Blues paying Brighton a staggering £100 million plus an additional £15 million in add-ons. This made Caicedo the most expensive Premier League signing and the third most expensive player in history, trailing Kylian Mbappe (£163m to PSG) in 2018 and Neymar (£198m to PSG) in 2017.

Since joining Chelsea, Caicedo has made 14 appearances, featuring in nine Premier League starts. Although he hasn’t had an explosive impact yet, Mauricio Pochettino’s team sees him as a long-term project in midfield, evident from the eight-year contract that binds him to Chelsea until 2031.

Despite Liverpool offering more upfront money and attempting to secure Caicedo’s signing for £110 million, Blues owner Todd Boehly secured the midfielder, triumphing over Liverpool’s bid.

Arsenal also made a significant effort during the winter window, offering around £70 million for Caicedo, which Brighton declined. However, this move worked out favorably for both parties, as Brighton obtained a higher fee for his transfer, while Arsenal redirected their efforts toward signing Declan Rice.

Following his move to Stamford Bridge, Caicedo expressed his excitement, revealing his lifelong dream of joining Chelsea. He expressed admiration for Chelsea legends Makelele and Kante, aiming to follow in their footsteps and contribute to the club’s success.

As a result of the substantial rise in Caicedo’s value, from a relatively unknown player costing Brighton £4 million in 2021 to becoming a £115 million footballer in just two years, reports from the Liverpool Echo suggest that Barat will be honored with the esteemed Golden Agent award in Turin. Additionally, Barat represents Nicolas Jackson, who also transferred to Stamford Bridge in the summer for a more modest fee of £32 million.
