The ongoing speculation surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s future remains a hot topic, especially amid the potential for Liverpool to swoop in and secure his signing, potentially outmaneuvering Real Madrid. A respected journalist has offered significant insights into the PSG forward’s future.

Mbappe, a superstar for France, finds himself in the last seven months of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, indicating his decision not to extend his tenure. This positions Mbappe for what could become the most high-profile and financially rewarding free transfer in history.

Despite the lack of a transfer fee, securing Mbappe on a ‘free’ will incur considerable costs for potential suitors. Reports suggest a potential signing-on fee nearing €100m (£87.5m), coupled with his weekly wages surpassing £700,000, a figure he aims to match wherever he lands.

Real Madrid has long been frontrunners in pursuing Mbappe, having made attempts to sign him previously, including a €150m offer rejected by PSG in 2021. However, a repeat scenario of a contract extension seems improbable this time, with Mbappe seemingly inclined to embark on a new journey.

While Real Madrid remains the top contender for his signature, recent denials from the club about their pursuit are met with skepticism. Many anticipate Mbappe’s move to the Bernabeu in 2024, despite Liverpool reportedly exploring the feasibility of acquiring him, especially if Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield remains uncertain.

Contrary to Liverpool’s alleged interest, Sky Sports Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg dismisses the possibility of Mbappe joining Liverpool in summer 2024, asserting that Real Madrid remains the most viable destination for the player in either 2023 or 2024.

However, Plettenberg’s update hints that Mbappe’s move might transpire in 2025, prompting PSG to reportedly make a final offer to extend his stay by another year. Meanwhile, Real Madrid plans to present a pre-contract agreement to Mbappe in the coming weeks, hoping to finalize the deal by the end of the season.

Real Madrid’s strategy involves offering Mbappe a yearly salary of about £30m, roughly £575,000 per week, although whether this offer is enough to sway the 260-goal scorer remains uncertain. Should Mbappe reject their offer, Real Madrid plans to walk away, unwilling to engage in protracted negotiations for an increased offer.

Mbappe, currently in his seventh season at PSG, boasts an impressive record of 229 goals in 277 appearances.
