Manchester United have shown interest in Arouna Sangante, the youngest captain in Ligue 1, who is also being monitored by Chelsea and Manchester City, according to a report.
Sangante, recognized as part of the Ligue 2 team of the year for his role in Le Havre’s promotion last season, is a 21-year-old commanding presence as the captain of his current team. He has featured in 10 top-flight games this season.
Reports suggest that Le Havre might entertain offers for the center-back in the upcoming January transfer window, considering the attention he’s drawn from the trio of Premier League clubs.
AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly also in the race for Sangante, potentially creating a hectic period for his representatives as they navigate his future.
Despite Sangante being under contract with Le Havre until 2026, the club has reportedly granted him permission to explore a move in the next transfer window.
Manchester United is eyeing long-term defensive options, especially as Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire have entered their thirties. While Varane has been linked with a move away, United is reportedly considering a more budget-friendly option, with Sangante emerging as a potential target.
However, securing Sangante might pose a challenge due to stiff competition from rivals Chelsea and Manchester City, all keen not to miss out on promising talent.
The report doesn’t specify the potential transfer fee required to secure Sangante’s services from Le Havre.
Sangante, originally from Senegal, has spent his career at Le Havre, boasting 28 appearances for their B team and 81 for their first team.
