Reports emerging from Italy suggest that Liverpool is considering a potential move in the upcoming summer transfer window for a highly sought-after teenage talent plying his trade in Serie A.

As per the latest edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport, cited by Paisley Gates, Liverpool is reportedly gearing up for a significant push to acquire Dean Huijsen. The 18-year-old defender, currently on loan at Roma from Juventus, has caught the attention of several top clubs, including RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund.

Valued at €30 million by Juventus, there’s a possibility they might be open to negotiations, particularly given their financial need to offload players to fuel their own transfer activities. Huijsen, a towering figure at 6 foot 5, hails from Amsterdam but recently debuted for Spain’s under-21 team. His loan stint at Roma has been fruitful, showcasing his versatility with two goals and an assist in 12 appearances.

Renowned for his blend of pace, stamina, and adeptness with both feet, Huijsen’s passing range has drawn comparisons to established players like Ben White, John Stones, and Declan Rice, as noted by Jacek Kulig of Football Transfer Scout. Despite his promising skill set, the debate looms over whether he’s ready for the rigors of Liverpool’s first team, given his limited senior experience with just 13 appearances.

With Joel Matip’s contract set to expire soon, Liverpool could be in the market for a new center-back this summer. Fabrizio Romano hinted at potential talks with agents to assess available options. However, uncertainties linger over Liverpool’s managerial situation, with the search for Jurgen Klopp’s successor ongoing.

While the rumors surrounding Huijsen should be taken with caution until further verification, the teenager presents an intriguing prospect worth monitoring closely throughout the remainder of the season.
