Liverpool spent the summer reconstructing their midfield due to the departure of six squad members last season under Klopp’s tenure. Although not all were regular players, losing Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and James Milner left the team with limited choices. Despite Klopp’s investments of £145.2m on players like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Endo, there’s a prevailing sense that the squad lacks depth and additional reinforcements might be necessary.

In light of this, Klopp is actively seeking another midfielder, especially with the January transfer window opening soon. He’s particularly interested in Brazilian talent Gabriel Moscardo. However, recent reports indicate Liverpool’s resurgence in pursuing another target from the summer, Andre Trindade from Fluminense, despite tough competition from various clubs.

Amidst this pursuit, former Liverpool player Steve Nicol believes Klopp is justified in his search for a new No 6. Despite acquiring Endo from Stuttgart for £16.2m in the summer.

Nicol doesn’t view him as a long-term solution for the team’s needs in that position. Even though Mac Allister has been utilized as the deepest midfielder, there’s a growing sentiment that he hasn’t effectively replaced Fabinho’s role since the World Cup winner’s arrival from Brighton. This leads to a perception that Liverpool hasn’t adequately filled the void left by Fabinho’s departure to Al-Ittihad.
