Liverpool remains keen on securing the services of Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, but their pursuit faces a possible challenge as the player’s agent has indicated a preference for another destination.

During the summer transfer window, Liverpool bolstered their midfield significantly, signing several players for a combined £145.2m. Despite these acquisitions, there’s a belief that the team still aims to strengthen its midfield options.

Speculation has arisen regarding limited game-time for a Japanese star, suggesting Liverpool might seek another midfield addition in the upcoming January window.

Amid discussions of Liverpool’s interest in Brazilian midfielder Andre Trindade and Gabriel Moscardo, reports suggest a rekindled interest in Thuram, known for his powerful displays in Nice’s midfield.

Although Liverpool was linked with Thuram in the previous summer, they explored other options. However, recent reports hint at a potential revival of their pursuit when the winter window opens.

Despite Liverpool’s interest, competition might arise from Inter Milan and Juventus, both alerted to the possibility of Thuram’s sale for around €35m (£30.6m).

However, Thuram’s agent, Oscar Damiani, has expressed a preference for Real Madrid, suggesting his client’s potential fit at the Spanish club under Carlo Ancelotti.

While Inter Milan eyes a Thuram brothers’ reunion and Juventus seeks midfield reinforcements, Liverpool’s financial strength could edge them closer to securing Thuram. Real Madrid’s potential interest may elevate Thuram’s asking price, possibly deterring Italian clubs, while Liverpool appears willing to invest significantly to secure their preferred midfielder.
