Alisson and Diogo Jota are currently under evaluation following their respective issues during Liverpool’s match against Manchester City, leaving Jurgen Klopp concerned about their fitness, especially with an onslaught of games ahead.

Post the game, Klopp expressed, “The concern is that both Ali and Diogo felt something – it’s something we need to evaluate, and then we’ll know.” Regarding Alisson’s condition specifically, he mentioned, “I’m hoping it’s not too serious, but currently, I have no idea – I spoke with him and he mentioned feeling it only slightly, but we need to await the scan.”

Liverpool faces a packed schedule, with a Europa League fixture against LASK looming this Wednesday, making it four games in just nine days. Despite leading their group and seemingly set to qualify as group toppers, they have an upcoming Premier League match against Fulham. Following this, a quick turnaround sees them confronting Sheffield United, currently struggling in the relegation zone. The series of demanding fixtures culminates with a game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, an early Saturday kickoff.

Klopp has consistently grappled with fixture congestion, exacerbated by their Europa League involvement this season. This intensified pressure on their squad resources was evident, and Klopp reiterated his concerns, particularly highlighting the scheduling of their City match in the early time slot.

He voiced his frustration, saying, “Frankly, the decision-makers are disconnected from the essence of football. It’s just not feasible. This is when the world eagerly anticipates a football match. These two teams combined boast about 30 international players. Interestingly, all the South American players return on the same flight – they all board together from Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia. One match, one flight, they all return together. We just have to ensure we are fully prepared for this encounter.”
