A MASSIVE UPDATION REGARDING LIVERPOOL’S SEARCH FOR A NEW CHIEF

by LAVIZKID

Liverpool is reportedly filled with confidence regarding the imminent return of their former sporting director, Michael Edwards, to the club.

Back in January, HITC disclosed that Michael Edwards had turned down an initial approach from Liverpool as they embarked on their search for a new sporting director and manager following Jurgen Klopp’s impending departure in the summer. However, recent reports indicate that discussions have resumed between Liverpool’s owners, FSG, and Edwards, with sources revealing to HITC that he is inclined towards accepting the offer.

FSG has put forth a new role for Edwards, one that would grant him significant authority at Anfield, likened to that of a ‘President of Football.’ This position would empower Edwards to oversee all facets of the football operation, including appointing his own sporting director and head of recruitment. Moreover, Edwards would wield the ultimate decision-making power in selecting the new manager, with indications suggesting a preference for Xabi Alonso as the ideal candidate for the role.

FSG aims to make substantial progress in negotiations this month, with the goal of finalizing Edwards’s return to Liverpool by Easter.

Despite interest from other clubs such as Manchester United and Newcastle United, Edwards appears inclined to rejoin Liverpool. Additionally, it is understood that Richard Hughes is anticipated to join Edwards’s team as the sporting director at Anfield, despite receiving offers from clubs in Italy. Hughes is reportedly prepared to make the move to the Merseyside club.
