A recent report indicates that Chelsea is preparing an attractive proposition to acquire Kylian Mbappe in the final days of the transfer window. As per the German newspaper Bild, between August 29 and September 1, Chelsea intends to present a final bid of about 120 million euros (approximately 130 million dollars) to PSG. This proposed offer falls below PSG’s preferred sum, which was roughly 150 million euros (around 163 million dollars) for the French international.
Despite the reduced offer, there’s a belief that this bid might still be highly enticing. Should it be accepted, it would create a dilemma for PSG: either agree to the offered amount or retain the player for the last year of his contract, potentially losing him for free in 2024.
Mbappe’s situation at PSG has been filled with turmoil, initially involving refusals to allow him to train with the team, followed by a recent return to training and participation in a match against Toulouse. Nonetheless, tensions persist within the club, with discontent among fans and an uneasy atmosphere in the dressing room.
Chelsea views Mbappe as a pivotal addition to reinforce their offensive capabilities, particularly due to their urgent need for a top-tier goal scorer. While recent signings, like Joselu, have been made, they are targeting a player of Mbappe’s caliber to enhance their competitive edge in European competitions. Additionally, delaying the offer until the final moments of the transfer window aims to avoid prolonged negotiations between two clubs known for their strained relationship and absence of recent discussions concerning the striker.
