Mason Greenwood is expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of support he received during his time at Manchester United, indicating that he would refuse a potential return to the club in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Athletic reports that Greenwood felt abandoned by United, particularly following his loan move to Getafe last summer. This move came after United’s investigation into criminal charges against Greenwood, which have since been dropped.

Despite speculation about his future, United has yet to make a definitive decision regarding Greenwood’s return. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a new part-owner of the club, recently disclosed that they are still deliberating on whether to recall the on-loan Getafe attacker. However, even if a decision were made to bring him back, Greenwood is reportedly unwilling to play at Old Trafford again.

Furthermore, Greenwood seems hesitant to return to the Premier League due to the perceived pressure and scrutiny associated with it. He appears content in La Liga, where he currently plays for Getafe, especially considering his personal life, as he is reportedly happy with his partner and newborn baby.

Initially, United had considered reintegrating Greenwood into the first team last summer following an internal investigation, but these plans were abandoned due to negative reactions. Instead, Greenwood was instructed to leave the club. Despite this, United has not finalized their long-term plans for Greenwood, as his contract runs until 2025. The club is currently focused on immediate steps for his career rather than long-term decisions.

Therefore, while the possibility of Greenwood returning to Manchester United is not entirely ruled out, potential negative publicity complicates matters. Greenwood’s performance at Getafe has been noteworthy, having scored seven goals and provided five assists in 25 appearances across all competitions this season.
