Mason Greenwood, once hailed as one of English football’s brightest prospects during his breakthrough at Manchester United, faced a tumultuous period when the club suspended him on January 30, 2022. He was subsequently arrested and charged with various offenses, including attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault causing bodily harm. However, all charges against him were dropped in February 2023, following the withdrawal of support from key witnesses.

Reports from The Sun suggest a strong desire from both Barcelona and Greenwood himself for a potential move. Greenwood has expressed to his advisers that joining Barcelona would fulfill a lifelong dream. The Daily Mail estimates the hypothetical transfer fee for Greenwood’s move to Barcelona to exceed 46 million euros.
