Chelsea “would consider” asking a high price for Conor Gallagher’s sale.

Chelsea is reportedly open to parting ways with Conor Gallagher, but only if the right offer comes along. Despite being a key player for Mauricio Pochettino this season, the 23-year-old midfielder is in the midst of intense transfer speculation for a potential January move.

Chelsea, facing the need to balance their financial books after substantial spending in recent windows, appears poised to bid farewell to a significant player, with Gallagher emerging as the most likely candidate. Although Tottenham Hotspur expressed interest in him last summer, the speculation suggests a possible return for the midfielder in the current transfer window.

Ben Jacobs, a trusted transfer expert and columnist for CaughtOffside, suggests that for Chelsea to consider selling Gallagher, it would require a substantial fee. Jacobs notes that the club isn’t desperate to offload the player but would entertain offers starting at a minimum guaranteed sum of £45 million, possibly reaching a total package of £55 million or even £60 million. If this valuation isn’t met, Gallagher is expected to stay with Chelsea.

However, Jacobs casts doubt on Tottenham’s ability to meet this asking price, especially given Daniel Levy’s business approach. He argues that if Spurs were reluctant to go beyond £35 million in the previous window, it seems unlikely they would jump to the £55 million or £60 million range. For a deal to materialize, either Chelsea’s stance would need to soften, or Tottenham would have to significantly adjust their approach, considering their admiration for the player.

Interestingly, despite the transfer speculations, Gallagher reportedly prefers extending his contract and remaining a Chelsea player, according to sources like the Mirror. This adds an additional layer of complexity to the ongoing transfer saga surrounding the talented English mid fielder.
