REPORT: Chelsea Has “Started Talks” About Paying £34 Million to Sign 16-Year-Old “Little Messi”

Reports indicates that discussions have commenced between the Blues and Palmeiras regarding a potential transfer deal for Estevao. Chelsea proposed a payment plan of €20 million upfront and an additional €20 million in add-ons. However, Palmeiras finds the deal structure unacceptable despite the substantial offer for a player with only one senior appearance. They insist on Chelsea triggering the €45 million release clause to receive the full amount without any conditions, as they possess only 70% of the player’s rights, with the remaining 30% owned by Estevao and his agent, Estevao.

Chelsea’s willingness to invest heavily in Estevao is linked to his outstanding performance at the Under 17 World Cup, where the 16-year-old impressed with three goals and three assists in five matches for Brazil, propelling them to the quarter-finals. Estevao has already earned the nickname “Messinho,” drawing comparisons to the playing style of the legendary Argentine, Messi.

Despite interest from other major clubs like Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona, talks have stalled due to Palmeiras’ insistence on the buyout fee. Presently, Chelsea appears to be the most serious contender for Estevao’s signature, but reaching an agreement seems far off.

An important note is that Estevao can only make the move to Europe once he turns 18, which means the earliest chance for fans to see him in a Chelsea jersey would be in the summer of 2026.
