Nevertheless, past instances have seen Mbappe almost joining Madrid, only for a last-minute change of heart to keep him at his current club. Should history repeat itself in 2024, reports from AS suggest that Madrid will pivot towards pursuing Haaland.
Currently with Manchester City for his second year, Haaland’s long-term future doesn’t seem to be tied to the Etihad Stadium. His agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has openly acknowledged Haaland’s inclination towards a potential move to Madrid, labeling it as something he envisions as a dream. Pimenta highlighted the allure of Real Madrid, citing its distinct appeal compared to the Premier League, emphasizing the club’s history and its significant status as a dream destination for players.
Haaland’s contractual situation includes a release clause set at €200 million, set to become active in the summer of 2024. However, this clause is applicable only for clubs outside the Premier League. Furthermore, reports indicate that this release clause will diminish annually once it takes effect in 2024. Subsequently, another minimum fee release clause of €175 million is expected to be triggered in the summer of 2025, with further decreases in subsequent years.
