Reports from France suggest that Liverpool poses the most substantial threat to Real Madrid’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe. Liverpool could potentially seek a new forward in the upcoming summer transfer window due to rumored interest from Saudi Pro League clubs in Mohamed Salah’s move to the Middle East.
Despite Liverpool rejecting a previous £150m offer from Al-Ittihad last summer for Salah, a subsequent £200m bid didn’t materialize, and Salah continued to shine at Anfield, registering 16 goals and seven assists in 26 matches across all competitions.
One potential solution for Liverpool could involve accepting an offer for Salah and leveraging those funds to outmaneuver Real Madrid in acquiring Paris Saint-Germain’s Mbappe, especially as reports suggest Salah might consider a move to Saudi Arabia. Le Parisien asserts that Liverpool currently stands as the “most credible and dangerous candidate” to rival Real Madrid’s pursuit of Mbappe, especially considering the French forward’s contract expiring at the season’s end.
Loic Tanzi, a journalist from L’Equipe, also believes Liverpool has a legitimate chance to secure Mbappe’s signature without the need for a transfer fee. He highlighted Liverpool’s prior interest in Mbappe during his Monaco days, citing negotiations that took place even while Jurgen Klopp was personally involved during their discussions.
Adding to the speculation, a report from Spanish newspaper Nacional indicates that Mbappe might be inclined to significantly reduce his current salary of €100m annually in the upcoming summer.
Real Madrid remains the frontrunner for Mbappe, having reportedly initiated the “final offensive” to secure his services. However, it’s premature to assume his arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu by June 30. Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, has escalated discussions with Mbappe and his mother-agent, Fayza Lamari, taking advantage of the Frenchman’s ability to negotiate with other clubs.
