Carlo Ancelotti, the current manager of Real Madrid, is reportedly showing interest in securing Inter Milan’s 24-year-old defender Alessandro Bastoni, as per reports from the Spanish outlet Defensa Central. Ancelotti is actively looking to bolster his team’s center-back position and is pushing for Bastoni’s acquisition in one of the upcoming 2024 transfer windows.

Bastoni’s journey at Inter Milan began in 2017, and he has progressively climbed through the ranks. His breakthrough occurred during the 2019/20 season, and since then, he has solidified his place as one of Serie A’s standout defenders. His contributions were instrumental in Inter’s Serie A victory in the 2020/21 season, and he played a pivotal role in Italy’s success at UEFA Euro 2020.

With an impressive track record of 183 appearances for Inter Milan, Bastoni has garnered attention not just for his defensive capabilities but also for his knack for contributing offensively, tallying three goals and 14 assists. His market value, now at €60 million, reflects his significance and potential in the world of football.

Real Madrid is acutely aware of the necessity to fortify their defensive lineup and is eyeing a center-back signing during the winter or summer transfer window of 2024. Given the aging of players like Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, and Nacho (whose contract is expiring soon), Ancelotti aims to secure a long-term partner for Eder Militao. Alessandro Bastoni emerges as a promising candidate for this pivotal role.

The report also highlights Giorgio Scalvini as another center-back on Real Madrid’s radar. Ancelotti seems open to making a move for either Bastoni or Scalvini in the January transfer window.

Real Madrid’s quest for defensive stability and future planning could significantly benefit from the potential signing of Alessandro Bastoni, adding a valuable asset to their squad and enhancing their prospects in domestic and international competitions. The upcoming transfer windows will unveil whether Ancelotti’s pursuit of defensive reinforcements will come to fruition.
