Despite having two teammates available on his right side as the goalkeeper approached, Sterling opted to go solo, taking a shot that Sa managed to save well, denying the hosts an early goal.
Although the Blues attempted to take advantage of the situation after Conor Gallagher regained possession, his subsequent shot didn’t trouble the Portuguese goalkeeper. Sa then exchanged heated words with Gomes for his error.
