Jurgen Klopp’s reluctance to sign a contract extension at Liverpool has surfaced, hinting at another significant career move as a “major goal for his future.”

At 56, Klopp ranks as the third-longest-serving manager across the top four tiers of English football presently. His impact at Liverpool has been profound, potentially positioning him among the club’s legendary figures like Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, and Kenny Dalglish should he depart anytime soon.

Although Klopp’s existing contract at Anfield runs until 2026, his recent extension, adding two more years to his tenure, was inked in April 2022. Liverpool underwent a comprehensive midfield overhaul during the summer, leading Klopp to term his restructured squad as “Liverpool reloaded.”

Despite this, it would be unexpected if Klopp were to depart in the coming years. However, as per insights from BILD reporter Christian Falk, Klopp currently has no inclination to engage in talks regarding another contract extension.

Falk highlighted the primary reason behind Klopp’s disinclination, pointing to the significant time remaining on his current contract, with almost three years ahead.

Moreover, Falk suggested that Klopp harbors aspirations regarding the German national team role, a position reportedly offered to him and turned down before Julian Nagelsmann’s appointment in September. Falk emphasized that discussions about a new contract for Klopp aren’t a priority at the moment.

“It’s not Klopp’s plan – it’s too early for that,” Falk conveyed to Caught Offside. “I don’t think Liverpool have pressured him on this. It was surprising for everyone that Jurgen signed his last contract so early, so I don’t think this will be discussed until he’s closer to the end of his current terms.”
